MAJ. GEN. HOWARD
B. BROMBERG
Fort Bliss Commanding General
It is that time of year again, when our schools release their students for spring break and we have an opportunity to get away from the daily grind, regroup and spend time with our families. Spring marks new beginnings and our doors opening to the outside for a variety of activities. I would like to remind our Soldiers and their family members their health and safety is a major concern of this command.
From universities to elementary schools, students are gearing up for a week of fun and excitement. spring break offers Soldiers and their families an opportunity to get away from the stressors of school and work. Use common sense as you make your plans, while keeping your family’s safety a primary concern.
While this time of year typically earmarks a change in weather, it is also a time of increased accidents on the road – during outdoor activity and in the home. Accidents lurk at every corner and it is up to each of us to ensure we keep safety in mind during any activity.
We are committed to the Army Family Covenant and the programs available to our Soldiers and their families. I encourage you to take advantage of our programs and services on post; and consider all the local area attractions you can visit during your time with the family. Fort Bliss and the local area have quite a few areas of interest you can visit such as local museums, new attractions at the zoo and several state parks that provide a variety of quality family entertainment. Take a look at the Fort Bliss MWR Web site, as it provides details on local events as well: www.blissmwr.com.
Whatever you may choose, do not forget to adhere to policies and regulations. Keep the health and safety of your family a number one priority and always consider physical security and travel safety. Family time is vital for our Soldiers’ morale and during spring break. Practicing simple safety guidelines will allow all of us to have fun, arrive alive and come home safe!
