After a 10-month deployment, warriors from the 335th Signal Command (Theater) arrived Sunday at Fort Bliss’s Mobilization and Deployment Station.
Brig. Gen. Bert K. Mizusawa, deputy commanding general of the 335th SC (T), a unit headquartered in East Point, Ga., greeted 32 men and women at a “welcome home warrior citizens” honors ceremony. While they were deployed, the team supported warfighters in the combat zone by building, upgrading and expanding the communications infrastructure throughout Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq.
“I am honored to be here today to welcome home our warrior citizens and acknowledge their hard work and sacrifice while serving abroad,” Mizusawa said. “We are proud of the sacrifice our 335th SC (T) Soldiers have endured during their recent deployment for those serving during 2009 to 2010.”

The 335th SC (T) was mobilized during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and has maintained an enduring presence in theater. Their mission is to operate the Army’s portion of the global information grid in the Central Command area of responsibility. The command ensures delivery of seamless, enterprise-level command, control, communications, computers and information management services required by Army Network Operations. Additionally, the 335th SC (T) provides assured delivery of common user services in support of combatant commanders and the Army Service Component Command.

Since their initial uncasing of colors in Southwest Asia, the 335th SC (T) has managed more than half a billion dollars in projects that serve to improve communications for all Soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. Concurrently, they managed the largest communications and data network ever deployed in a combat zone, with little or no loss of services. As well, they have made significant progress toward commissioning the Army’s first fixed regional hub node at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
Lt. Col Eric Ruthman, who served as a military liaison officer said the work they do is critical to the war front, but the mission was fantastic.
“We’re winning,” he said. “Everybody is very motivated and glad to be there and glad to support the nation.”
