The XVIII Airborne
Corps and Fort Bliss welcomed a new commander to the 108th Air Defense
Artillery Brigade as Col. John Seward relinquished command of the brigade
to Col. David L. Mann. Seward will soon take over as the commandant
of the United States Sergeants Major Academy.
The reviewing officer of the Change of Command Ceremony was Lt. Gen.
John R. Vines, Commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps. Vines commended
Seward on his leadership of the 108th ADA Brigade. “This brigade
has excelled in everything it’s done in the past two years,”
Vines said.
During the ceremony Seward, who led the brigade to Southwest Asia in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, spoke to the 1,500 Soldiers that
stood in front of him. “It has been my great pleasure to have
served with you over the past two years,” Seward said, “thank
you for your efforts and sacrifices.”
Vines and Seward both welcomed the incoming commander and his family
to the brigade. Mann said that all the standards in the brigade would
be maintained while he has command of the 108th ADA.
Mann is a military graduate of Millersville University in Pennsylvania
where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He also has
a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from
the United States Naval War College.
Mann is married to the former Robyn Priester of Lancaster, Pa. They
have two children, Ryan and Lauren..
