Join Fort Bliss
Soldiers, Northeast City Representative John Cook, United Blood Services,
El Paso Specialty Hospital, El Paso Police, El Paso Firefighters, U.S
Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol and the Sheriff’s
office in honoring and celebrating our heroes when “A Celebration
of Heroes” is held at the El Paso Specialty Hospital, 1755 Curie,
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 11.
There will be free hot dogs and Price’s Ice Cream for everyone. A
9-11 Hero Awards ceremony will be held at noon and there will be hero
speakers throughout the day.
The health fair will include free health screenings for cholesterol,
diabetes, blood typing, blood pressure and more. The city/county
health department will provide childhood immunizations for a minimal
cost (parents should bring shot records). Additionally, there
will be free musical entertainment and many events for children.
Fort Bliss will have military police units there, along with a K-9 unit
and the Fort Bliss Fire Department. The 6th ADA Brigade will provide
an Avenger weapon system as a static display and the 62nd Army Band
will provide patriotic music before the opening ceremony.
