Housing residents should use only the wheeled plastic (polycarts) containers issued with their quarters. The refuse contractor will also pick up plastic lawn/trash bags. However, do not place anything next to or in the area of the polycart container that you do not want to be disposed of — to include personal waste baskets, kitchen trash cans, recycle bins, etc. Large amounts of cardboard boxes will not be picked up; disposal should be coordinated through the Recycle Center, 568-1537. Tree limbs and brush must be less than five feet in length and bundled. Disposal of large items, such as furniture, appliances, should be coordinated through O. Perales, 568-3294. 801 Housing thefts
We have received a few e-mails from residents in the 801 Housing Area about a rash of thefts from cars in their neighborhood.
We have contacted the El Paso Police Department and confirmed that there has been a rise in theft in that area. The EPPD representative said that the national stastics show that violent crime is decreasing, while theft is on a rise.
The EPPD is increasing patrols in the neighborhood to help combat the break-ins. If someone suspicious is seen in a neighborhood, don’t hesitate to call the local police station to investigate. The EPPD representative advises individuals to install lighting to illuminate property neighborhoods to form neighborhood watch programs to help watch for suspicious activity.
Always remove items from your car and secure it to prevent thieves from breaking in. Items left in a vehicle are a temptation for vandalism and theft.
