MPA
ops complete
The 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade prepared its equipment for transport to Korea with support from 11th ADA Support Operations personnel during their recent Movement Preparation Assembly operations in September. Personnel from 11th and 35th ADA Bde. worked together to prepare 349 pieces of equipment for transport to Korea. “We worked from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. [every day of the operation],” said 178th Maintenance Company Chief Warrant Officer Jesus Palomino, who worked as the primary liaison between 11th and 35th personnel throughout the operation. MPA operations include ensuring all equipment is clean and free of non-mission capable faults prior to rail or sea-vessel movement, and all secondary loads are properly secured and documented with placards and labels. The weight and size for each piece of equipment is then documented for loading purposes. Personnel from the L3 Communi-cations Contract Field Team conducted all major and most minor repairs to the equipment, said Palomino. In addition to effecting hundreds of minor repairs, L3 personnel replaced four engines, two transmissions, two fuel injector pumps, as well as four major break adjustments or repairs. “On average, every piece of equipment had at least one or two NMC faults,” said Palomino. In most cases the faults were minor deficiencies like broken turn signals, horns and rough-running engines. All units met the standard.” “I feel extremely confident that every piece of equipment that went through this MPA was carefully checked and repaired to ensure it can be transported and is ready to perform its wartime mission in the Republic of Korea,” said Palomino.. |
