Fort Bliss zoomed past its goal of $350,000 during the recently-concluded Combined Federal Campaign and punched a hole in the $400,000 barrier for good measure.

The final tally for Team Bliss, according to information released Tuesday afternoon by post CFC organizers, is $411,604.18, which represents 117.6 percent of the goal the post had for the campaign, officially conducted here from Sept. 30 through Oct. 31.

“Three units didn’t (initially) realize they had additional money to turn in, so we had the last three turn-ins today,” Janice Gamel, one of the Team Bliss CFC coordinators, said Tuesday afternoon. “This is the final figure, and we’re very pleased that me met (and exceeded) our goal.”

Gamel added that just over $29,000 of the total will come back to Fort Bliss agencies to enhance Soldier and family support here. These agencies include the Community Services Center, Child Development Services, the Armed Services YMCA, Better Opportunities for Single Service-members, Army Family Team Buil-ding, Fisher House and the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Association.

As the only authorized solicitation of employees in the federal workplace on behalf of charitable organizations, CFC puts all charitable fundraising efforts under one umbrella. It is one campaign conducted once a year, and it continues to be the largest and most successful workplace fundraising effort in the world.
