Customers try the food from Manchu Wok, a new eatery at the Fort Bliss
PX Food Court.
The first Manchu
Wok in the U.S. Army is open for business at the Fort Bliss Post Exchange
Food Court. The “soft” grand opening occurred Friday during
the lunch hour, when numerous customers lined up for their first taste
of what the company calls “fast and fresh Chinese cuisine.”
During the summer, PX General Manager Ted Wulff, announced that Colters
Bar B Que had decided it would discontinue business at the Food Court
but, would gain the Manchu Wok. According to the company it is one of
the largest Oriental “Quick Service” chains in North America,
usually located in Food Courts at shopping malls, airports, office buildings
and universities across the United States.
Customers can expect a number of menu items to be available on a rotational
basis while the standard menu will always be available. This is the
first and only Manchu Wok in the area, Wulff is extremely confident
that “this is the best Chinese fast food in El Paso and I challenge
anyone to try it.
The new buffet style facility offers a wide variety of authentic Chinese
dishes in orders of pre-set “Combos” or you can “Make
your own Combo.” One of the restaurants first customers, Fort
Bliss employee, Tommy Taylor, said “I really got a lot of food,
it was good and at a good price.” All food dishes are prepared
from special Manchu Wok recipes on location using the freshest ingredients.
Wulff expects “demand will be substantially higher than at the
pervious venue” and added that “it’s a perfectly natural
addition to the Food Court.” Additionally, the new restaurant
has an on-going punch card promotion, by 11 and get the next one free.
Manchu Wok is competitively priced and is going heads-up competition
with the other Food Court restaurants including Charlie’s Steakery,
Anthony’s Pizza, Robin Hood’s as well as Popeye’s
Chicken and Burger King, both located across the street. Another new
venue coming to Fort Bliss is Main Street X-Presso featuring Starbucks
Coffee; it is expected to open in December.
