The 13th Annual Susan G. Komen El Paso Race for the Cure will be held Feb. 20 at Biggs Army Airfield. The 5K coed run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. and the 1 Mile coed fun run will follow the 5K. The Race is open to all ages and we encourage all to arrive by 7:30 a.m.

The cost to participate is $20 if the Race entry form is postmarked by Feb 13. After that date, the cost is $25 and the day of the Race, $30. Race registration will take place at the Fort Bliss Post Exchange Feb. 5. In exchange for your race entry fee, participants will receive a race t-shirt and goodies after the race.

Last year, the race attracted 7,300 participants and raised more than $205,000. The majority of funds (up to 75%) are provided back to the community in the form of grants for education, screening and treatment programs for underserved men and women in El Paso. The remaining 25 percent is provided to the Komen National Research and Award program that funds breast cancer research.

To register or learn more about the race, log onto www.elpasokomen.org or call 566-9745.
