The U.S. Military Academy Cadet Glee Club.
WEST POINT, N.Y.
–- Members of the U.S. Military Academy Cadet Glee Club will sing
the National Anthem during the pre-game activities of Super Bowl XXXIX
in Jacksonville, Fla., Feb. 6.
Twenty-five Glee Club members will join with 25 singers from each of
the other service academies (Navy, Air Force & Coast Guard). The
participating male and female cadets represent all four classes at West
Point. The joint choir will perform a tribute to veterans, which commemorates
the end of World War II. The theme of the Super Bowl pre-game is “bridging
generations.”
The Glee Club cadets are West Point’s musical ambassadors, performing
at high-profile events such as the Fiesta Bowl, the World Series at
Yankee Stadium, presidential library events and the commemoration ceremonies
at Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2002.
The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train and inspire
the Corps of Cadets, officials said, so that each graduate is a commissioned
leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country;
professional growth throughout a career as an officer in the United
States Army; and a lifetime of selfless service to the Nation.
Pre-game coverage will begin at 6:30 p.m. on the Fox network.
