3rd Bn., 6th ADA Soldiers set new
battalion road march record

Maj. Hector R. Morales-Negron
3-6 Executive Officer

Capt. Vera Brooker leads her battery to complete the battalion requirement of 12 miles in less than 3.5 hours.

Soldiers who think being in a TRADOC unit means they don’t have to do any more road marches need to think again, said the commander of the 3rd Battalion, 6th ADA Brigade as he took all his warriors for a 12-mile road march Jan. 28.

The battalion completed the task in an average of three hours and 25 minutes setting a new battalion record. The train up for this event started about three months ago and was conducted at the battery level. Battery commanders and first sergeants worked with their Soldiers to develop the endurance needed to accomplish the task. The battalion commander, command sgt. maj. and the staff lead the way and each battery followed within five minute intervals. The battalion marched six miles out and six miles back and each Soldier proved their warrior ethos by completing the course and meeting the standard. The day culminated with a battalion award ceremony to recognize the contribution of three of the battalion noncommissioned officers that had become warrant officers. It was a great day for 3-6 ADA as they continued to “train to win” not only branch newest Soldiers, but also themselves.
