Pfc. Brian Wickstrom, 518th Maint. Bn., brushes mud off of his sidewalk
during Spring Cleanup.
Annual spring cleanup began April 23, with the majority of Fort Bliss
being mowed, watered, cleaned, edged, fertilized and landscaped in order
to beautify the overall image of the installation.
Several government housing residents worked side-by-side cleaning their
yards, sweeping their sidewalks and edging their lawns. Soldiers were
also tasked to clean general areas around the installation as well,
including near the roads and around barracks and motor pools.
Pfc. Brian Wickstrom, a Soldier with the 518th Maintenance Battalion,
said he is not the type of person who continually makes sure his yard
and house are continually spotless, but he likes to make sure his living
area is presentable.
“My house is a representation of myself and this post and if it
looks bad, the post looks bad,” said Wickstrom. “I just
like to keep my quarters as clean as possible; my whole neighborhood
does.”
The cleanup will continue throughout the week, and residents and Soldiers
are encouraged to do their part to keep the post as clean as possible,
as long as possible.
