Troop Talk
Soldiers are asking
about the availability of LBVs for their unit and about MOS changes.
Responses are as follows. There is also a shortage of some items in
the commissary which are addressed as well.
Several Soldiers in 1-44 ADA stated that when they in-processed
through CIF, they did not receive an LBV. Is there a shortage
of LBVs at CIF?
Yes. There is a shortage of LBVs in the Army. CIF will issue as
soon as they receive the item. Bill Harrison should contact the S-4
in 1-44 ADA and advise of the receipt of LBVs.
What is the future of MOS 14E and 14T in regards to future AMD
weapon systems such as THAAD, MEADS, and SLAMRAAM?
The is intent for these MOSs is to keep all launcher type jobs within
the 14T MOS and all fire control jobs in 14E. SLAAMRAM and CRAM will
probably be 14S, but we are still looking into the details of this decision
and its impact over time.
According to information I received from Don Fleck, commissary manager,
the Fort Bliss Commissary has been experiencing shortages of certain
commodities of merchandise. The cause of these shortages is associated
with the two hurricanes that struck the coasts of Louisiana and Texas.
The hurricanes caused damage to many manufacturing plants that produce
Folgers/ Millstone Coffee, Zatarans Cajun products, frozen shrimp and
Ozarka Water, just to name a few. Many of these major producers
have to shift production to other plants, which will cause delays in
filling the pipeline. Also, FEMA has directed many water production
plants to supply much needed purified drinking water to the affected
areas causing shortages. The commissary is still on allocation
for many Gatorade items. The demand is more than supply, much of
it is going to Iraq. Please be patient and your commissary will
get these products into the store as soon as possible.
