From June 18 through 22, C Battery, 2nd Battalion, 6th Air Defense Artillery
Brigade, conducted a rigorous five-day Field Training Exercise at McGregor
Range, N.M., for more than 120 initial entry training Soldiers. The
Soldiers were from two battalions of the 6th ADA Bde. The IET Soldiers
began the exercise with a five-mile Situational Training Exercise road
march out to Training Area 62.
The next four days were filled with tough training designed to prepare
the inexperienced Soldiers for the reality of today’s combat environment.
The Soldiers trained not only on MOS specific skills, but were also
broken down into groups of more than 25 and rotated through 48 stations
training on 39 Warrior Tasks and nine battle drills.
The highlight of the operation was the Convoy Live Fire Exercise that
occurred on the final day of the FTX. The training completed by these
students is designed to help them be effective and successful at their
new units, especially during a deployment in support of the Global War
on Terrorism.
“It was a great training event for the IET students,” said
C Battery Commander, Capt. Anthony G. Dunat. “They were taught
how to operate in today’s contemporary operating environment,
and this training not only will benefit the Soldiers, but will help
them become an asset to their new units.”
