Free jiu-jitsu seminars

Fort Bliss MWR Sports is offering Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Seminars, free to active duty Fort Bliss military personnel, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 to 17 at Biggs Gym. Seminars will be set up in two-hour blocks with individuals and units signing up for times on a first come, first served basis. For information, e-mail joseph.fedak@us.army.mil or call 568-5995.


Open water classes

The Replica Aquatic Center offers open water classes with a PADI Open Water Certification. Class meets every Tuesday and Thursday starting Nov. 20 with Dec. 8 and 9 being the certification weekend.

Swim lessons

Replica Aquatic Center offers a variety of swim lessons. Classes start Nov. 24 and run through Dec. 15 and are as follows:

9 to 9:45 a.m. Adult Lessons     

10 to 10:45 a.m. Pre-School

11 to 11:45 a.m. Advance Pre-School

12 to 12:45 p.m. Level II/III

1 to 1:45 p.m. Level IV/V

2 to 2:45 p.m. Level I

3 to 3:45 p.m. Adult Swim Lessons

Evening classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday Nov. 26 through December 12:

3:45 to 4:30 p.m. Level I

4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Level II

5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Level III

6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Level IV/V

Active duty military adult swim lessons are free, but servicemembers must register at the Replica Pool. For more information, call 568-5380.


Fort Bliss 10K run

The 10K Run Post Championship will take place Dec. 7 at Biggs Gym. Registration will begin at 5:30 a.m. The race will begin at first light or 6:30 a.m., depending on temperatures. Competition is open to active-duty military and Reserve and National Guard Soldiers on active status assigned to Fort Bliss. For information, call 568-5995.


Bowling center hours

The Fort Bliss Bowling Center hours of operation are:

Monday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

Tuesday 11 a.m. to 10 .pm. 

Wednesday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

Thursday 11a.m. to 11 p.m.   

Friday 11a.m. to 1 a.m.

Saturday 11a.m. to 1 a.m. 

Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Free fitness classes

Aerobics and spinning classes are now free. There is no longer a fee to participate in any of the classes offered at Stout Gym. Classes start at 6 a.m. through 8:30 p.m. and include spinning, yoga, step, kick-boxing and so much more.

NFL Sundays

Down Under Sports Bar at the Officers’ Club and Metro Station at the Centennial offer DirectTv’s NFL Sunday Ticket. Both clubs open at 11 a.m. and offer multi-cast games daily. The Officers’ Club also features a Sunday brunch before the game. For information, call 568-7013 or 562-5969.  


Tennis Lessons

Tennis lessons for adults are available every Monday for beginners and Wednesday for intermediate players from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Bliss Tennis Club and Fitness Zone. Cost is $8 per session, or $35 for five sessions. To sign up, call  539-7300.


Tango Tower

Try your climbing skills on the 50-foot climbing walls, brave the Cargo Net, or test your limits on the Bead Climb. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Climbing fee is $10. Group rates are available. For more information, call 568-8087.
