Families receive turkeys 

 

Bliss ensures happy Thanksgiving for its Soldiers

More than 1,000 turkey baskets were given out to Soldiers with families Monday at the Armed Forces YMCA.

“It’s a great day for us at Armed Service’s (YMCA) to be able to do this,” said Steven T. Cheatum Sr. chairman of ASYMCA.

The program began in 1992 at the Junior Enlisted Family Center with 25 turkey baskets, said Carol Serna, director of JEFC. Every year, the program has grown she said. Two years ago, it became too big for the JEFC to handle and had to be moved to the ASYMCA.
