Basketball tournament

Stout Gym will offer the 12th annual Fort Bliss Black History Month Basketball Tournament Feb. 15 to 17 at Stout Gym. The tournament is open to men’s military and civilian teams. Entry fee will be $200 per team for civilian and non-Fort Bliss teams and $150 per team for military Fort Bliss only. Roasters are limited to 12 players per team with one non-playing coach. Post racquetball championship

The Fort Bliss 2008 post racquetball championship will begin Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Stout Gym. Because it is a Commander’s Cup event, participants must be active-duty military assigned to Fort Bliss. There will be no divisions but competition will consist of three age groups for men and women: 34 and under, 35-39 and 40 and over. Entries must be submitted to either a sports coordinator or Joe Fedak and the deadline is today. Brackets will be posted Monday by noon. For more information, contact Joe Fedak at 568-5995. 


Combatives tournament

MWR Sports is hosting a winter combatives tournament at 9 a.m. Thursday. Entries and liability form must be completed by weigh-ins, which take place at 6 a.m. Wednesday at Stout Gym. Competition is open to male and female active-duty military personnel. Medals will be awarded to the top four competitors in each weight class. Competitors compete in their respective weight class: 125 and under, 126-140, 141-155, 156-170, 171-180, 181-205 and 206 and over. For more information, contact Joe Fedak at 568-5995. 


Softball tryouts

The Fort Bliss men’s post softball team will hold tryouts Monday until Feb. 16 at the Omar Bradley Softball Complex. Tryouts will take place at 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday; Saturday try-outs will begin at 8:30 a.m. The men’s post softball team will compete in weekend tournaments and, if qualified and funding is available, in Military Worlds. Sports officials needed

The Fort Bliss Officials Association is looking for individuals who are interested in becoming sports officials for various sports. Training is provided and games will be played Monday through Friday evenings at Fort Bliss sports facilities. Water aerobics

The Replica Aquatic Center is offering water aerobics classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m. Cost is $3 per lesson or $25 per month. For more information, call 568-7431. 


Free aerobics

Aerobics and spinning classes at Stout Gym are now free. Classes start at 6 a.m. through 8:30p.m. and include spinning, yoga, step, kick-boxing and more. For more information, call 568-3826 or, for a list of times and classes, visit www.blissmwr.com.


Tango Tower

Try your climbing skills on the 50-foot climbing walls, brave the Cargo Net or test your limits on the Bead Climb. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Climbing fee is $10. Group rates are available. For more information, call 568-8087. 


Tennis lessons

Tennis lessons for adults are now available every Monday for beginners and Wednesday for intermediate from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Bliss Tennis Club & Fitness Zone. Cost is $8 per session or $35 for 5 sessions. For more information, call 569-5448.


Replica Pool

Replica Aquatic Center hours are: Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Open swim is available daily from 1 p.m. until closing. The pool offers a variety of swim classes as well as private sessions. Patrons, including active duty, family members, DA civilians and NAF employees, may swim and participate in water aerobics for free. Guests are $2 per person. All you can bowl

The Fort Bliss Bowling Center offers All-You-Can-Bowl for $6 per person, excluding shoe rental, every Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Call the Bowling Center at 568-6272 or stop by Bldg. 2949.
