Missoula Children’s Theater

Zoo camp
Kids from 6 to 10 years old can explore the world of pachyderms at Zoo Camp 2008. The sessions are Monday through Aug. 8 and Aug. 11 through 15. The classes are from 9 a.m. to noon at the El Paso Zoo. Children will learn about the habitat, diet and intelligence of the animals and will have the opportunity to visit behind the scenes, work on crafts, games and participate in live animal encounters. Cost is $85 for non-members and $75 for zoo members, which includes an official Zoo Camp 2008 T-shirt and snacks. Super Saturday
“Super Awesome Saturday” at Logan SAS will be from 3 to 10 p.m. During August, we will limit Saturday openings to pay-day weekends: Saturday and Aug. 16. This free program includes a nutritious dinner and evening snack and is open to school-age, CYS-registered children with an active SAS pass. Vacation Bible School
The Fort Bliss Vacation Bible School will be held Monday through Aug. 8 at the Religious Activities Center. VBS will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 8. All children 4 years old through those who have completed sixth grade are invited to attend. Summer Reading Program
Mickelsen Community Library's Summer Reading Program, “Catch a Dragon by the Tale,” is coming to a close. Mickelsen Community Library wants to remind participants that reading continues through Saturday. All books must be recorded on the reading log at the library no later than close of business on that day.
The awards ceremony and party for all the participants will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 9. Children who read at least 10 books will qualify for a certificate, and the top three readers in the four age groups will receive special prizes. SAS Summer Camp
Main School Age Services, Bldg. 131, and Logan SAS, Bldg. 3505, will offer full-day structured and supervised activities from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 22, with extended care hours from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities include field trips, bowling, computers, matinees, Mad Science, cooking and craft projects, sports, 4-H projects and more. Kelly Park summer fun
Fort Bliss CYS and Balfour Beatty Communities will sponsor a summer lunch and activities day at Kelly Park every Wednesday. Activities and water play will begin at 10 a.m.; lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Activities and lunch are free and open to all military children up to age 18. Free lunch service
CYS will sponsor the summer food service through Aug. 22. Meals will be provided free of charge to all children ages 1 to 18. Sesame Street workshop
Sesame Street has partnered with the USO to bring Fort Bliss families this extraordinary multimedia outreach program, designed to support military families with children between the ages of 2 and 5 who are experiencing deployment, multiple deployments, or a parent's return home changed due to a combat-related injury. Workshops will be held Thursday and Aug. at Stout Gym and will include a 60-minute main event, mini show, give-a-ways, and outreach materials. Admission is free, doors will open at 6:15 p.m., and the show will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are be available for pickup at all Child & Youth Services facilities. Pumpkin Patch Harvest
MWR has paired up with Balfour Beatty Communities to bring the fun-filled Pumpkin Patch Harvest to Fort Bliss. The annual event will be held from noon until 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at Kelly Park. Children will have the opportunity to decorate pumpkins, listen to ghost stories, enjoy face painting and more. Costume contests in different age groups will be held and various family readiness groups will offer snacks and drinks for donations.
