National Night Out
Fort Bliss residents are invited to join the Directorate of Emergency Services, Military Police and Belfour Beatty Communities at Kelly Park to enjoy an evening of entertainment activities and free hot dogs and chips at National Night Out. Activities start at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be military working dog and SWAT team demonstrations, military police cruiser displays, fire engines and bicycle registrations. Off Duty is a compilation of military-affiliated information and events focused for the Soldier, their family members and veterans. Information should be 100 words or less and contain no editorializing. An informational brief that is not time specific will not run for more than 30 days. WBAMC Org Day hours
William Beaumont Army Medical Center will celebrate Organizational Day at Western Playland from noon to 6 p.m. Friday. The hospital will operate at minimal staffing. Primary care clinics will be available at reduced staff. The emergency department will remain open for urgent and emergent care. The appoint line, 569-CARE (2273), will be open from 6:45 a.m. until noon. Normal operations will resume Monday at noon. Weekend staffing will remain unchanged.
Rock the Fort
Rock the Fort Family Fun Day will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kelly Park on Marshall Road. Admission to the festival grounds is free and open to the public. There will be live music, vendors, jumping balloons, free mini golf, a dunk tank, treasure hunt, games and more. IV-D Child Support Services
From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Office of the Texas Attorney General will provide an overview of the IV-D Child Support Services provided to the military and the community. U.S. Army Soldier Show
The 2008 U. S. Army Soldier Show rolls into town at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 and 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Abraham Chavez Theatre in downtown El Paso. The high-energy, 90-minute, live musical revue showcases the talents of active-duty Soldiers who are selected from throughout the Army. They are amateur artists who have a passion for music, dance and performing.

Military, family life consultants
The Military and Family Life Consultant Program is designed to provide support and assistance to active-duty soldiers, National Guard and Reserves, military family members and civilian personnel. Consultants can help people who are having trouble coping with concerns and issues of daily life such as stress, anxiety, aggression, grief or loss, or adjustment to deployment or reintegration. Consultations are free and anonymous; no records are kept.

Satellites not permitted
The installation of a private satellite dishes or rooftop antennas is not permitted in or on government facilities. This includes landscaping and unaccompanied personnel housing. The only facility type excluded from this local policy is Army Family Housing. This action is necessary to preserve sustainable architectural design, visual aesthetics, and warranties. Free helpline
The Texas Information and Referral Helpline offers free 24/7 information and referrals to nearly every health and social service agency in our community, including food pantries, career services, child care, after-school programs, counseling services and government agencies. Drinking age change
The drinking age at all Fort Bliss MWR facilities is 21 years of age. Staff at all facilities will be carding everyone. MWR facilities serving alcohol will assist with courtesy taxi rides to off-post residences within the El Paso city limits. Individuals who volunteer to be designated drivers receive free soft drinks.
Freedom Team Salute
It is now time to salute dedication by nominating Soldiers to receive recognition. Selected candidates will be honored at the 2008 Soldier Show and will receive framed certificates of recognition, letters of distinction from the secretary of the U.S. Army, Army pins and more. Waiting Families
Fort Bliss Waiting Families is a program designed to assist families who are geographically separated from their military sponsors due to mobilization/deployment, TDY or PCS/relocation. The focus of this group is to build friendships and ease the stresses and demands on families during times of separation. Waiting Families also serves as a liaison between military and civilian agencies to ensure assistance is provided for family members. ACS Lending Closet

The Exceptional Family Member Program is a program designed to provide assignment coordination and support for military families. EFMP is always looking for volunteers to assist with monthly support group meetings and recreational or cultural outings for the children. Free use of pools
Replica Aquatic Center hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Open swim is available daily from 1 p.m. until closing. The Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Fort Bliss will be selling excess furniture until all excess property is sold.
Available items include tables, chairs, barstools, bar chairs, TVs, bed frames, sofas, cabinets, light fixtures, refrigerators and much more.

Unit service coordinators
The Unit Service Coordinator program at ACS has been implemented to assist commanders and rear detachment commanders with meeting the needs of their Soldiers and family members. The USC for each unit serves as the unit’s single point of contact to coordinate ACS services and training, and ensures command teams get the support and assistance they need from ACS.
USCs coordinate ACS briefers to present trainings, contact commanders on a monthly basis to offer support, attend commanders’ staff meetings on a regular basis to provide updated ACS information, and provide ACS overview briefs to units and family readiness groups. Consumer advocacy

Refer a Friend
MWR and the O’Club present the “Refer a Friend” program. Members receive more than $50 in free food and beverage gift certificates to use at the club for each referred individual who joins. The Fort Bliss community is reminded that an Officers’ Club membership is open to all officers and civilian personnel GS-7 and NF-03 and above; command sergeants major; and members of the El Paso, Hispanic and Black chambers of commerce. Yellow Ribbon Room
The Yellow Ribbon Room is a facility that supports waiting family members of Fort Bliss. It is equipped with 10 Internet-connected computers, cameras and DVD recorders to produce DVDs to be sent to our Soldiers. Newcomers’ Orientation
This class covers all programs offered by Army Community Service, as well as community resources. This is a mandatory class for all newly-assigned Soldiers, private through staff sergeant. The Golden Tee
The Golden Tee Restaurant and Lounge is located inside the clubhouse at the Underwood Golf Complex. If domestic violence is to end, each person in this community must form a partnership that focuses on creating a safe, violence-free environment. The Family Advocacy Program reinforces that everyone has a right to feel safe and takes a stand against domestic violence. Online job database
The Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Commission have developed an additional tool for military spouses who are on orders to PCS to Fort Bliss and for spouses currently stationed here seeking employment. They have created an online database that military spouse job seekers in El Paso can register, check off skill sets they possess, and upload a resume. Our local business community can also register on this site. Businesses that may need to hire a person with a certain skill set can submit a request and receive the resumes in the database that match the skill set they requested. The business does not need to be a member of the Greater Chamber in order to register on the site and recruit candidates to fill positions. It is important to note that this is not necessarily a database for existing jobs – this is a site where the businesses can recruit candidates from or possibly create a position should the right person come along. Registration is open to all military spouses. All military spouses in the market for El Paso jobs as well as those who may be on orders to come to Fort Bliss are highly encouraged to register and upload their resume. Junior enlisted nights
Hang out with your friends and meet new ones from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday at the Centennial’s Club Metro! There is no cover charge. Auto Crafts offers an online tool that helps do-it-yourselfers by providing step-by-step instructions on automotive repairs. This is a free service to any Auto Crafts Shop patron who requests help at the customer service window. The Fort Bliss Auto Crafts Shop is also offering free tire rotation and brake inspection for all passenger cars with original wheels when an oil change is purchased. Logan Heights Shoppette has new hours. The store is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The store now sells all grades of gasoline.
