Pay day golf

The Fort Bliss Underwood Golf Course would like to invite you to participate in Bliss’ pay day activity. Entry fee is $5. The event will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Red, White and Hoops Tour

The USA Basketball Red, White and Hoops Tour presented by State Farm is coming to El Paso Wednesday. The event will consist of a free-throw and three-point shooting challenge competition beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding at 6 p.m. Be sure to stop by the Post Exchange at these times to participate. Army Ten-Miler qualifying run

Fort Bliss will hold the Army Ten-Miler qualifying run Aug. 15. The run will begin and end at Biggs Gym. Registration will take place the day of the race, beginning at 5 a.m. The race starts at 6 a.m. The race will be for Commander’s Cup points and identify the team to represent Fort Bliss at the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., Oct. 5. Active-duty military personnel attached to Fort Bliss are eligible to participate. For information, call 568-5995. 


Mini golf championships

Fort Bliss MWR-Sports is sponsoring the Mini Golf Post Championships Aug. 19 and 20. This event will take place at Balfour Beatty Communities’ Kelly Park Mini Golf Course. Registration will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Aug. 19, with play beginning at 5 p.m. The top four teams from the first day will compete in the finals Aug. 20. This event is open to active-duty military assigned to Fort Bliss. Teams will consist of four members of the same unit, and multiple unit teams may sign up without repeating players. Military Long Drive Championship

At 4:30 p.m. Aug. 22, the George V. Underwood Golf Complex will host the MWR Long Drive Championship presented by 7UP. This event is one day and is an official Long Drivers of America qualifier. Six regional winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to compete in the military division at the Long Drive Championship in Mesquite, Nev., Oct. 23. Active-duty servicemembers, Reserve and National Guard (both active and inactive), retirees and family members over 18 are eligible to compete. Women who enter the competition will be spotted 65 additional yards on their qualified drives. Keep checking blissmwr.com for Official rules and registration forms. Army combatives championships

All Reserve and active-duty Fort Bliss Soldiers are invited to participate in the 2008 Modern Army Combatives Post Championship at 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at Stout PFC. Entries and liability form must be completed by weigh ins, which will begin at 7 a.m. Aug. 27. Medals are awarded to first through fourth places, and first- and second-place finishers will automatically be selected to represent Bliss at the All Army Tournament held at Fort Benning, Ga. German-American Night Run

Get your running shoes and beer steins ready for the 15th Annual German-American Night Run, sponsored by FirstLight Federal Credit Union. The event will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 6 at Kelly Park, with pre-race activities beginning at 4 p.m. and post-race activities to follow.
