NFL Sunday Ticket

The Down Under Sports Bar at the Officers’ Club and the Pub at the Centennial will carry DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket starting Sunday. Both clubs will open at 11 a.m. and multi-cast games. At the end of the season, USA Discounters will give away a “Best Seat in the House” couch and 32” HDTV for your participation at NFL Sunday Ticket. Women’s b-ball tryouts

Fort Bliss MWR Sports will conduct tryouts for the women’s post team Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at Stout Gym. These tryouts are open to active duty military assigned to Fort Bliss and family members if enough military personnel are not available to field a team. This team has an opportunity to travel to several tournaments and possibly represent Fort Bliss in a city recreation league. For more information, call 568-5995.


Tennis lessons

Tennis lessons for adults are available every Monday for beginners and Wednesday for intermediate from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Bliss Tennis Club and Fitness Zone. To sign up or for more information, call 539-0300 or 569-5449.


Adult swimming classes

Replica Pool offers adult swimming classes Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Cost is $25 for eight lessons and active-duty Soldiers are free. For more information, call 568-7431 or 568-5380.


Post swim meet

Fort Bliss MWR Sports will present the post swim meet at Replica Pool on Oct. 16 and 17. The event is open to all active duty military assigned to Fort Bliss. Entries are due by Oct. 15. On each day of competition, warm ups will begin at 5 a.m. and the meet starts at 6 a.m.  This is a Commander Cup competition with two age groups; 34 and under and 35 and over, for both men and women. Events will include freestyle, back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly and associated relays. The list of events and the MOI can be found at www.blissmwr.com. For more information, call 568-5995.


Club Thunder Alley

Thunder Alley gets under way every Friday and Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Get a strike and hang out with friends during this glow-in-the-dark play land and club-like atmosphere. The center’s lounge features a wide-screen TV, karaoke, dancing and entertainment. The snack bar features a full short-order menu. For more information, call 568-6272. 


Wounded Warrior benefit

The Fort Bliss Wounded Warrior Benefit Run/Walk is Nov. 1 at Stout Track & Field. The event will include a 5K non-competitive run/walk beginning at 8 a.m., and a 1 mile run/walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. Registration for the race is free; however donation forms are available for those who would like to make a contribution to the SFAC to help assist Soldiers’ families. The first 3,000 registrants will receive a free Wounded Warrior Walk t-shirt and all registrants may enter the NCO Wives’ Club Bazaar (co-located with the Wounded Warrior Walk at Stout Gym) at no charge by presenting their race number. Completed registration forms may only be turned into ITR (Bldg 1743), the PX food court information desk, or Stout Gym. For more information, call 568-6741 or 568-3264.


Free water aerobics
