The El Paso Rhinos hockey team takes on the Tulsa Rampage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25. Military and their family members get in free. Tickets are available at the coliseum and the Sierra Providence event center box offices. New physical fitness compound on East Fort Bliss
A physical fitness compound will open Oct. 24 on East Fort Bliss in an existing, vacant motor pool area across from JTF-N. The new fitness area will consist of a Functional Training Circuit, free weights, Nautilus equipment, and a space for combatives. Adjacent to the main fitness area there is a separate building for cardio equipment and will operate at the following hours:
Monday thru Friday: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sundays, Holidays, and Training Days: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The compound will also consist of a separate building that will be used for an Internet café, which will have areas for watching TV, video gaming, and computer stations. Representatives from BOSS and from MWR recreation programs will be on- site to facilitate additional programs and activities. Hours of operation for this building are still pending.
Halloween B-ball tournament
Fort Bliss will be hosting the 2008 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament Oct. 31 through Nov. 2. The tournament is open to military and civilian teams. Rosters limited to 12 players with one non-playing coach. Entry fee is $200 per team; Fort Bliss military teams pay $150 (make checks payable to DMWR Fort Bliss). NFL Sunday Ticket
The Down Under Sports Bar at the Officers’ Club and the Pub at the Centennial will carry DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket starting Sunday. Both clubs will open at 11 a.m. and multi-cast games. At the end of the season, USA Discounters will give away a “Best Seat in the House” couch and 32” HDTV for your participation at NFL Sunday Ticket.
