Teen Read Week
Mickelsen Community Library will be giving out colorful, multilingual “Read” wrist bands to the first 100 teenagers who check out a book during Teen Read Week now through Saturday. Mickelsen Library is located in the basement of Wing E, Bldg. 2. Hours of operations are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Fishing tourney

VFW scholarship
The Veterans of Foreign Wars is sponsoring its two annual scholarship contests. The Voice of Democracy scholarship program is an audio-essay contest for high school students in grades nine through 12. The entry deadline is Nov. 1. Patriot’s Pen is an essay scholarship program for students in grades six through eight. The entry deadline is Nov. 1. Fashion models wanted
The fashion modeling program at SKIES Unlimited is seeking male and female runway models ages 8 to 18 to participate in an upcoming fashion show. Virtual college fair
College Week Live is sponsoring a virtual college fair Nov. 12 and 13 to help prospective students in their college planning by connecting them with colleges in a live, interactive environment. More than 100 colleges from the U.S. will participate in the virtual college fair from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day. Live speaker sessions are a great opportunity for parents who are interested in topics such as financial aid, trends in college admissions, and a wide variety of additional information. Parents and students can chat with admissions officers and students, and ask questions regarding college concerns directly of admissions experts.
