Free hockey tickets

The El Paso Rhinos hockey team takes on the Tulsa Rampage at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Military and their family members get in free. Tickets are available at the coliseum and the Sierra Providence event center box offices. At every game, one lucky fan in attendance has a chance to win $10,000 and at every Friday night game, one lucky fan has a chance to shoot for $10,000. New physical fitness compound on East Bliss

A physical fitness compound will open Friday on East Fort Bliss in an existing, vacant motor pool area across from JTF-N. The new fitness area will consist of a functional training circuit, free weights, Nautilus equipment and a space for combatives. Adjacent to the main fitness area there is a separate building for cardio equipment and will operate at the following hours:

• Monday through Friday: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Saturday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Sunday, holidays and training days: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The compound will also consist of a separate building that will be used for an Internet café, which will have areas for watching TV, video gaming, and computer stations. Representatives from BOSS and MWR recreation programs will be on site to facilitate additional programs and activities. Hours of operation for this building are still pending. 

Halloween Classic Basketball Tournament

The Halloween Classic Basketball Tournament, sponsored by MWR Sports, will be Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 at Stout Gym. There will be men’s and women’s brackets. Entry fee will be $200 for civilian and non-Fort Bliss military teams and $150 for Fort Bliss military teams. Rosters are limited to 12 players and one coach. NFL Sunday Ticket

The Down Under Sports Bar at the Officers’ Club and the Pub at the Centennial will carry DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket. Both clubs will open at 11 a.m. and multi-cast games. At the end of the season, USA Discounters will give away a “Best Seat in the House” couch and 32” HDTV for your participation at NFL Sunday Ticket.
