Fishing tourney
Enjoy a day of family fun at Ascarate Lake hosted by CYSS from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 21. Ascarate Lake will be stocked with 2,400 trout. The fishing tournament will be for three age groups (3 to 6, 7 to 11 and 12 to 16); the youngest age group will have an extra prize category for “smallest fish.” Registration at the lake begins at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event and runs until 10:30 a.m. Adults age 17 and older must have a Texas fishing license (available at the Fort Bliss Rod and Gun Club); children under 16 are not required to have a license. Free bait and 400 rods and reels will be available for loan and cook-out and presentation of awards will follow the tournament. A $1 per vehicle fee is required to enter the park.
College entrance software
Preparing your teen for college entrance exams? NFL Players have extended the availability of free SAT and ACT PowerPrep software. Afternoon movies
Every Saturday afternoon a children’s movie will show at Fort Bliss Lodging and includes free popcorn. Children are welcome to bring their own snacks. For information, call Heide Holguin at 565-7777.
Super Awesome Saturday
Super Awesome Saturday hours at Logan SAS will be from 3 to 10 p.m. This free Saturday program includes a nutritious dinner and evening snack, is open to CYSS registered school-age children with an active SAS pass, and requires reservations to hold down costs associated with staffing. Community service and long-term projects will be the focus in programming; however, many other choices and more field trips will be offered to engage and explore children’s interests. Free ice skating
The El Paso Rhinos hockey arena is opening its doors to military children for hockey and skating classes. Every Sunday from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., admittance and equipment will be provided free to the first five children for hockey classes and the first 30 children for skating classes. Sign up at the Youth Plex, Bldg. 195, or by contacting Tom Herman at 479-7825.
Mickelsen Library
Mickelsen Community Library hosts “Read Me a Story” at 10 a.m. every Tuesday morning for children 2 to 5 years old. The library also hosts “Family Story Time” for 2- to 6-year-olds at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. For information, call 568-6156.
Teen drop-offs and pickups
The Middle School and Teen Program is conducting drop off and pickup services for youth living off post. Drop off locations will include the following:

• Biggs Field Shoppette

Tennis registration
Team Bliss Youth Sports Spring tennis registration is until Feb. 27 for boys and girls ages 8 to 18. Cost is $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional child. Practice begins March 4.
This is a non-competitive league where the 50 percent participation rule is in effect. Parents must attend a sportsmanship class before children are able to participate in the Youth Services league. The time and date of the class is to be announced. If parents have already attended this class, please show participation cards at time of registration. Children must be a Child, Youth and School Services member. To register children, call Central Registration at 568-4374 to make an appointment. Children must have a sports physical on file. All sports physicals are due by March 6.
SKIES Unlimited classes
SKIESUnlimited offers a variety of programs of interest to children and teens. Classes include dance, martial arts, fashion modeling, academic tutoring, SAT/ACT prep, academic support, tumbling class, piano, swimming and much more. Registration is open for February classes. Classes must have at lease five participants to take place; if not, the class will be cancelled and refund money will be placed on a household account. For information, call 569-7732.
