Universe Picture Production is on a search for talented people from Fort Bliss/El Paso and its surrounding areas of New Mexico and Juarez, Mexico.

The company began hosting auditions Monday and will continue through Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. at 33, the restaurant and bar, located on Doniphan St. in west El Paso and Lee Treviño Dr. in east El Paso. The cost to audition is $25. Those planning to participate should bring a portfolio or media packet if available.

UPP seeks to employ musical talents, models and entertainment visual prospects for use in films, commercials, music videos and marketing campaigns. The goal is to open doors for new talent and to advance them to the next stage, said company president Elie Assaad.

Assaad said he wanted to meet the talented community of El Paso and its surrounding areas – the talent the rest of the world is missing. He desires to give El Paso a place in the industry, to put them on the entertainment map.

“The reason we chose El Paso is because people have never seen what El Paso has and El Paso is very rich [in talent]. It is a multi-talented city,” said Assaad.

The company’s tour schedule for the hunt of new talent incorporates the big cities of Miami, New York and Chicago, and worldwide locations like Mexico City, Italy and Venezuela.

Qualifying models have a chance at winning one of five international modeling contracts offered to new faces.

Musical talents will have the opportunity to work with music director Mad Myles, who helped bring to fame teen pop star Aaron Carter and hip-hop rapper Choobakka among other artists and has also worked with the Home Box Office television network. Everyone on the UPP team, whether local or abroad, has years of experience in their field.

“We are the bridge between El Paso and the world; from the world to El Paso,” said Assaad. “We can help [people] arrive to reach their dreams.”

The finals and entertainment event is slated to happen at Nova Luna Nov. 7. For more information, call 781-7550.
